Overwatch: Die siebte Saison wurde gestartet
Wie bereits vor etwas über einer Woche durch einen in den offiziellen Foren von Overwatch veröffentlichten Bluepost von Community Manager Josh Engen angekündigt wurde, ist im Verlauf des gestrigen Tages nun endlich die siebte Saison für den gewerteten Spielmodus dieses beliebten Shooters auf dem PC, der PlayStation 4 und der Xbox One gestartet. Aus diesem Grund können alle daran interessierten Personen mit einem Account über Level 25 jetzt wieder ihre auch weiterhin für die Teilnahme an diesem Modus benötigten zehn Platzierungsmatches abschließen und auf diese Weise dann ihr anfängliches Spielniveau für diese anstehende Saison generieren. Basierend darauf, wie hoch die Teilnehmer ihr Spielniveau während dieser Season bringen, erhalten sie in einigen Monaten nach dem Abschluss dieser Wettkampfphase dann eine bestimmte Anzahl von Ranglistenpunkten für ihren Account gutgeschrieben. Zusätzlich dazu dürfen sich die an der siebten Saison teilnehmenden Personen nach ihrem Abschluss auch noch über ein spezielles Spray und ein Spieler-Icon als Belohnung freuen.
Damit die Spieler von Overwatch, die allgemeine Fangemeinde von Blizzard Entertainment und mögliche Kunden sich auf eine einfache Weise über den Start der siebten gewerteten Saison informieren können, veröffentlichten die Mitarbeiter dieses Entwicklerstudios gestern Abend netterweise einen interessanten Artikel zu dieser Wettkampfphase auf der Internetseite dieses Titels. In diesem leicht verständlichen Blogeintrag erklären die Entwickler den Lesern noch einmal ganz genau, wie solch eine Saison von Overwatch eigentlich abläuft, was für Vorrausetzungen die Teilnehmer erfüllen müssen und welche Belohnungen die Spieler freischalten können. Welcome to Season 7 of Competitive Play
Get ready to sharpen your skills and perfect your strategies—Season 7 of Competitive Play has begun!
Unlocked at Level 25, Competitive Play is designed for those players who want to put their skills to the test, and offers a more serious experience than our Quick Play or Arcade modes.
To begin your competitive journey this season, click on the „Play“ button, select „Competitive Play“ from the submenu, and you’re ready to enter a match. You can join on your own or in a group, and Overwatch’s matchmaking system will automatically find the best game possible for your skill level.
Before you can kick off your competitive career, every player must first complete 10 placement matches to obtain their initial skill rating. This rating will be a number between 1 and 5000, with higher values indicating a greater skill level. Players will also be assigned a tier based on their rating—Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, or Grandmaster—and climbing into the next tier is possible as you improve.
Skill ratings and tier icons will be visible at the beginning of every match. As you compete, your rating will increase or decrease with each win or loss based on a number of factors, including your own performance and the skill of the other players in the match.
A detailed breakdown of the skill tiers, along with icons and information about the corresponding skill ratings can be found by pressing the „Information“ button under the Competitive Play menu.
In addition to experiencing the thrill of victory, players can also unlock unique rewards through Competitive Play. Anyone who completes their placement matches during a season will receive a special spray and player icon. If you are placed within the Top 500 players on your platform (and in your region) at the end of the season, you’ll receive an extra player icon and animated spray.
On top of that, as you complete competitive matches, you’ll earn a currency called Competitive Points. When the season concludes, you’ll also receive a number of these points (based on your overall performance) to spend on golden versions of your favorite heroes‘ weapons.
For those who have tested their metle in Competitive Play and want a bigger challenge, the Overwatch Open Division will help you become a true contender. This entry-level program for aspiring professionals is an excellent proving ground where players can test their strengths as teammates and face off against other regional teams in a structured weekly format.
The first matches for Open Division Season 3 start the week of November 6, with the regular season continuing through December 10. The top eight teams in each region will then move on to the playoffs, taking place December 16 & 17, where they will compete to take home prizes.
